EISRIESENWELT (WORLDS LARGEST ICE CAVE)

Werfen, next to the "Tennengebirge"

The Eisriesenwelt, which is the world´s largest ice cave, is situated in Werfen, next to the "Tennengebirge" which is an impressive mountain range in Salzburg.

The Eisriesenwelt in Werfen is worldwide unique. With its total length of 50 km and an exhibition cave with a length of 800 m it is the largest ice cave made accessible worldwide.

You will find the entrance on the cliffy Westside of the mountain "Hochkogel" (2282 m) at a height of 1641 m. The entrance is reachable with a cable car from Werfen or via a mountain road. Already from 1920 on guided tours through the cave take place - approximately 180.000 guests from all over the world participate and visit the cave every year.
