SALTMINE SALZBERGWERK DÜRRNBERG
Largest Exhibition mine in Europe
15 driving minutes away from Anif, direction south over the picturesque town of Hallein, on top of the mountain "Dürrnberg" is the one of the worlds oldest exhibition mines situated.
The Celts already mined the so called "white gold" salt, which made the Prince Archbishops from Salzburg to incredible rich men
The salt mine Dürrnberg was shut down in 1989 and since then it is the largest Exhibition mine in Europe.
A ride with the mine wagon brings you in the min, afterwards you will use a long wooden slide to get down. Inside the mine you will cross the border to Germany and come to an illuminated salt lake with a length of 90 m and a width of 50 m.
